The Arlington Hotel hosted the Monmouth Ramblers for a 5 day holiday. With sunshine every day they walked and walked!
Their itinerary:
- Monday: a seafront and gardens walk from the hotel
- Tuesday: Corfe Castle, Swanage and Durlston Head
- Wednesday: Studland and Nine Barrows Down
- Thursday: Tyneham, MOD and Kimmeridge
- Friday: Hengistbury Head

The leader of the party was Bob Curtis. At the end of the holiday he congratulated the Arlington Hotel for the wonderful food and service; the amazingly clean bedrooms and superb location. Thank you Bob and all the Monmouth Ramblers!

View over Mudeford and Christchurch Harbour from Hengistbury Head
What a fantastic day here in Bournemouth – the sun is out, the sky is blue and the air is fresh. If I wasn’t working at the hotel today my perfect day out would be a walk or cycle to Hengistbury Head (a nature reserve with sand dunes and a headland overlooking Christchurch harbour and the Isle of Wight).

After enjoying the views at the top you can walk down on to Mudeford beach (to see some of the most expensive beach huts in the UK). From there you can cross the harbour using the Mudeford Ferry and then take a break on Mudeford Quay (infamous for smugglers and pirates) – now more famous for crab sandwiches at The Haven Pub or freshly caught fish at the Fish Stall. Watch the kids trying to catch crabs with their lines and the kite surfers…but don’t relax too much as it is a long walk (or cycle) back to Bournemouth. The round trip is about 8 miles – but there’s so much to see and it is a totally uplifting experience! Anyway, I must get on with my work…
