Katherine Jenkins, the record-breaking multi platinum selling mezzo-soprano will be performing at Bournemouth International Centre on Thursday 9 February 2012 as part of her UK Daydream tour.

Katherine will be performing up close and personal for her first theatre tour in three years. Coinciding with the release of her latest album, Daydream, Katherine will perform some of her best-known songs, classics and new material.

Art Competition Winner

The Arlington Arts Cafe sponsored a ‘Paint the Lion’ competition for young people who visited the Cafe during the summer. The judges were contemporary artist Clive Hagon and hotel owner Sara Uzzell. Judge Clive Hagon was so impressed with the work that he awarded a special prize. The judges were delighted with the standard of entries and would like to thank everyone who participated.

Bournemouth Lion Auction

At the Arlington Hotel we have loved spending the summer with ‘our’ lion ‘Firestar’. This beautiful lion, created by artist Natalie Guy, was one of 50 lions which formed the Pride in Bournemouth initiative to provide an art trail as well as raise funds for charities Born Free and Julia’s House Hospice. Sara and Bernard went along to the Pavilion Theatre to see charities patron Martin Clunes with Born Free’s Virginia McKenna and to watch the auction of these wonderful creatures. They had been faintly optimistic about taking one home to the Arlington Arts Cafe. Sadly for us our lion investment budget was just too small. Amazingly for the charities these lions raised a whopping amount under the hammer. Our lion ‘Firestar’ was sold for £1,400 + VAT. We hope that he will be given a great new home – shame it couldn’t have been with us!

It’s that time again! We are pleased to announce that our 2011 Turkey and Tinsel holidays start on Monday 31 October.

We offer Monday to Friday mid-week breaks as well as Friday to Monday weekend breaks. For those not already in the know – these are pretend Christmas holidays (no we’re not joking!). They include all the fun and excitement of the festive season – at a really great price…and you still have the ‘real’ Christmas to look forward to!

We are pretty booked up for most of these holidays but we do still have availability for the following Turkey & Tinsel weekends:

Friday 11 November to Monday 14 November 2011 (at The Arlington Hotel) at a special price of £126 per person

Friday 2 December to Monday 5 December 2011 (at The Whitehall Hotel) at £130 per person.

Everyone at the Arlington Hotel and the Whitehall Hotel would like to record our sadness and offer our condolences following the the death of Flt. Lt. Jon Egging ‘Red 4′ at the Bournemouth Air Show this weekend.
