Arlington Arts Café

During the summer we are an outdoor café – but in addition to this we are providing a venue for local artists to showcase their work and share their skills.

The Arlington Arts Café was launched in 2011 by Arlington Hotel owners Sara and Bernard Uzzell. “We want to support the arts in Bournemouth so we have invited local artists to use our café as a place to paint, exhibit their work and run art activity sessions” said Sara.

Arlington Arts Cafe Christmas Art & Craft Fair

Christmas Art & Craft Fair

On Saturday 10 December 2011 and Sunday 11 December 2011 we will be hosting a fantastic art and craft fair in the Arlington Hotel.

You will be able to watch artists in action, view their work and buy some fabulous, unique, hand-made gifts.

We will have art work on display and for sale as well as fantastic hand-made gifts and jewellery.  There will be home-made mince pies, hot drinks and mulled wine as well as festive music. It will be the most relaxing way of doing your Christmas shopping.

Arlington Arts Cafe

Arlington Arts Café is open every day throughout the summer from 10am until 6pm and in the evenings for special events. Everyone is welcome – you don’t have to be staying at the Arlington Hotel. We want to welcome visitors here on holiday as well as those who live in Bournemouth.

Art Workshops with Bournemouth contemporary artist Clive Hagon

Throughout the school holidays every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon 14.00-16.00.

Clive will demonstrate techniques and provide hints for everyone to achieve progress in their painting.  All the materials will be provided for you to sketch and paint during the workshop. To encourage you to continue your painting you will be given your own starter pack of art equipment to take home (a canvas, mini easel and acrylic paints). All ages welcome. No previous experience necessary.

The price of the workshop is £7 per person. This includes art equipment to take home and refreshments during the workshop.

Arts & Crafts Activities for all ages led by trained teacher Ruth Kelvin

Throughout the school holidays Ruth will be proving that everyone has an artist in them! She will encourage you to draw, paint or enjoy other crafty activities. Basic materials are provided or you can buy a starter pack which includes a canvas and acrylic paints. Take your art work home with you or you can sign it and donate it to us for our garden gallery.

Grandstand view of the Bandstand

Sit in the Arlington Arts Café and enjoy whatever is going on at the bandstand – concerts range from brass bands, opera singers, choirs, rock bands and the Salvation Army. Our blackboard displays the daily programme of events at the Bandstand in Bournemouth’s lower gardens.

Garden Gallery

An outdoor display of the completed works of art produced by our customers.

Arlington Arts Café moves indoors in the Autumn

The Arlington Arts Café is currently an outdoor café but the concept will continue when the summer is over. We shall move inside and our arts menu will include:

  • Arts Fairs – for the display and sale of work by local artists
  • A venue for local arts, writers and musicians to meet
  • The home of Bournemouth Creative Breaks – weekends away for arty types
